HoP’La, France’s pioneering stick-pony club, celebrates its first birthday with an open competition in the municipal gymnasium. Expect 30 cm-80 cm jumping heights, a creative freestyle round and a beginners’ “try-the-sport” lane staffed by teenage members who founded the club. Craft stalls sell felt bridles and Provençal rosettes, while local pâtissiers supply éclairs shaped like hobby-horses. Prize giving is preceded by a mass canter-lap to the Marseille Olympic hymn—HoP’La’s nod to its dream of seeing the discipline recognised nationally. Spectator entry is free; online pre-registration for riders closes 9 June.
